I just shorted NVLS, too, but I am long the same amount of nvls shares that I shorted. Translation: I expect volatility.

As Gottfried has shown repeatedly, if I interpret him fairly, the equips tend to not bounce back until the orders bottom. We may have a ways to go, even though it seems impossible. Frankly, I am disregarding all of that and shorting down to when amat hits the 200 week ma, which it has done the past 4 bottoms, and then I am going long, although it will probably go lower and be dead money for a few months.
