I love "The Wire." Reminds me so much of "home" - New Orleans and Baltimore could be sisters. I love it about as much as I hate watching fake New Orleans accents on TV. "Real" New Orleanians have an accent that reminds most people of Brooklyn, "dese, dem and dose."

Dirty, gritty, blue collar. Housing projects, warehouses, enormous loading docks with unbelievably huge cranes. Tiny townhouses jammed together, row upon row, for miles. Old ladies wearing housedresses and slippers, accompanied by yappy chihuahuas, watching out for the neighborhood while sweeping their stoops, keeping an eagle eye on everything.

Speaking of smallpox, there's going to be an outbreak on "Deadwood" this Sunday night.
