I agree. The only point of my post was simply this: the law follows people everywhere...and it ought to. The details that need to be worked out in the complex arena of the internet will take much time, and a great deal of argument. The specific answers are not easy, but the principles are well recognized and have general acceptance. As well, it is necessary to recognize that a number of compelling internet issues (eg. providing an ignore option on SI posts) are issues of philosophy rather than of law...as are many of the issues that disturb a lot of thread participants... I am the last person to ever advocate censorship; I certainly do not wish to be misunderstood on this issue. But again I state the obvious: Where people go...the law must go also. Clearly...over the next decade, the law will begin to define itself over the internet. Hopefully some of my stock picks will define themselves as well! SOLON
