The working poor pay many more taxes than FICA. They pay sales taxes, excise taxes, real estate taxes (even if they rent a portion of their rent goes to taxes), tolls, on and on....

Think taxes on gasoline. When someone making $200K fills up the Escalade that 50 cents a gallon that goes to the feds doesn't really make much difference. When a guy making $35K with three kids to feed pulls up to the pump, that 50 cents means something.
