I have no personal interest in ISPs and I assume you are asking that given my strong feelings about the shortcomings of AOL. The rational behind that is simply a strong distaste for what I see as a massive and deliberate effort to sell the public the idea that a proprietary bulletin board is somehow superior to a global communications network independent of any one software company or anyone service provider. The single advantage enjoyed by AOL is about to be terminated as a result of Microsoft's ActiveX and Sun's Java. What that means to the user is simply this: the software you have to interface to your local auto-trader magazine or to order a pizza will be as interactive, fast and easy to use as "normal" Windows or Macintosh software. It goes without saying that your local auto-trader or corner pizzeria hasn't got a hope in hell of getting on AOL nor would they want to.
