But that wasn't the one... it was even better than that - it was called the
"Directory of Corporate Affiliation" and they had public and private companies.

However - I did find the Thomas Register on line at
thomasregister.com
and this is still useful... though no answer to this particular question there! Guess I will have to ask the employees.. (they probably don't even know who makes the shoes or owns the company!!) Kinney shoes is Kinney shoes..according to Thomas register... perhaps not public...
