Yours is the probable scenario(#1) but i believe we have 3 further things that could happen here.
1. neutral bias
2. bias toward lowering rates
3. 1 or 2+ actual 1/4 pointer
4. 1 or 2+ actual 1/2 pointer

Reason for #2-4 hinge on greenspan seeing the need to head off recession NOW. 5 week delay may be too late in this scenario. And we still have a chance to have a fair Christmas with one more weekend in play. From all i have seen happen in the past 30 days i think time is of the essence and that a radical move is warranted. Sustainable growth is job 1 for the fed and embarrassment over overshooting the mark with rate hikes will not keep AG from doing the right thing if he sees it that way.
