Analysts earnings expectations report (inc. Read-Rite):

COMPUTER-DATA STORAGE STOCKS: Sector feeling a little pressure today as analysts and investors anxiously await quarterly results that are expected to be somewhat weaker than had been anticipated. Frenzy created at the beginning of the quarter by company's like
Iomega (IOMG 27 -1 1/8) and Syquest (SYQT 8 -1/8) spilled over to the lower end of the disk-drive market. Though forecasts of a pick-up in demand were on target, early warnings by Quantum Corp (QNTM) and Read-Rite Corp (RDRT) are proving that the forecasted
degree of increase was off. Some of the less-familiar names, however, may be the surprise winners for the qtr. For example, Prudential Securities is standing behind its estimates of $0.59 per
share for Western Digital Corp (WDC 24 1/4 -1) and $0.72 for Komag Inc (KMAG 25 -1 3/4), gains of $0.05 and $0.24 over year-ago numbers respectively.
