Ted, > I am no fan of Waters but I have first hand experience with Korean stores. Some are okay but some are terrible....high prices, rotting produce and questionable goods.

Don't know which stores you've been to. In my experience, Korean-owned stores are no better or no worse than any other mom-n-pop shop.

However, there is a wide range of quality in the L.A. area, more so than I've seen even in New York. For every store or restaurant which is awesome, there are two of them that suck big time. At least in Portland, you get one level of quality ... mediocre. Seattle is a lot better, except maybe some places in Tacoma.
