The first national poll conducted after Barack Obama publicly named Joe Biden as his running mate suggests that the battle for the presidency between the Illinois senator and John McCain is all tied up.

When the history of this election is written, it may be that the big story will be that Obama's arrogance blew the election for him.

Obama couldn't bring himself to put Hillary on the ticket -- which undoubtedly would have won the election. That combination would have been unstoppable by McCain, clearly.

But he couldn't stand the thought of a co-presidency with Hillary, and he sure as hell is too weak to do it on his own.

I think he blew it. If he ends up losing, it clearly will be attributed to a bungled VP choice. There are definitely other problems but it seem so obvious he had a much better chance with Hillary than with Biden.
