My most likely buyer of ASND at this point (which I stated here awhile back) is In Intel already has close to a $1B networking business that pretty much covers the LAN with low to midrange hubs and switches and NICs. IMO they will eventually move to the WAN, and currently their is no overlap at all with the current INTC product line. Also, ASND would not drag the mighty INTC earnings in any way. What do you think?

Thanks Gary.

I would love to have Intc to purchase Asnd. But I know less than you do in this area. By the way, I am long Intc for over 2 years.

I am still a believer of LU/Asnd...because it is a better fit. And think about it; was it purely a rumor on Dec 5, 97 ? (The rumor was Lu offered Asnd a cash buy out of $35..) If LU did considered the offer then, what has changed except the diminishing of the following 3 major blocks:

1. Pooling interest requirement. IF LU trades around $140 per share after 10/98, an offer of Asnd at the upper $50 range is feasible...??

2. Asnd's F/A has strengthened considerably...

3. What are the better alternatives for both LU and Asnd .....?

I like to own stocks which stand on their own and with possible merger opportunities.... and rumors sometimes become self-fulfilling prophecy....

The above are all just my thoughts, not necessary CREDIBLE.
