Corel Redefines Incompetentcy General Incompetence One thing that has to be made crystal clear is that Corel has a child-like grasp of Java and object-oriented, networked software. They have parlayed some niffty graphics utilities into some decent revenues but their competency ends there. The marketing department has demonstrated their incompetentcy and added insult to injury by blaming Microsoft for their problems. They picked a fight with Microsoft and at some point in the future, when Microsoft has nothing else to think about, somebody, somewhere inside that company will recall a buffoon, whose name will escapes them, making some sort of noise about an alternative to Microsoft Office. What they may remember is the CEO arriving late to an empty gallery at his own press conference. What a sad excuse this guy is for an executive. Hardware and OLAP Incompetence Let's forget the obvious stupidity of their foray into computer hardware since that's so patently asinine that it needs to further comment. Instead, think about the damage the foolish man leading this company is causing with their venture into another area where they have a -273 chance of success: OLAP. I'm going to tell everybody right now that if they don't snap out of that drunken stupor they are going to go down in a bright orange ball of flames faster than you can say Cowpland is an idiot. olapcouncil.org Corel is getting into an area where they have ZERO experience ZERO respect and MASSIVE competition. Sombody please tell me they can't possibly be as inept as they appear from any angle you look at them. Ancient History Get rid of the brain-dead baggage from the early 80's with the brain damaged, arcane names: Paradox and Quattro Pile should be dropped immediately. It's ancient history with no future. Toss these out along with Cowpland and take a load off your shareholders. While you are at it, can the whole Word Perfect marketing effort and focus on those few areas where you still have a chance. License WP as an OEM office-pack for anybody that wants it.
