FWIW. In my business I have noticed an august swoon after a pretty good July. Hope this is not reflective of the entire economy but i have my fears that if september doesnt reverse, we will have really entered a recession in august. Need oil low, dollar strong, and housing reversal even of small proportions to offset possible business slowdown. Now can the consumer bail us out if need be after a short lived consumer recession over the last six months?

The rally of the last three days suggest that the markets thinks the worst is over. Housing sales look to be bottoming even as prices continue to go down in the problem areas like FLA and CA. Unemployment levels remain around 435K which suggests a light recession. If the consumer is like me, things are tight......but the consumer has surprised in the past.

Personally, I think we will move along at current levels maybe going in and out of what's considered recessionary levels until after the election. Then, maybe the mood of the country will improve and things will get better.
