My kid gets a little magazine at school once a week called "Time Magazine for Kids". It looks like the real thing and has a cross section of articles.

This week there was an article I didn't like. It is called 'Kids Get Too Much Homework', written by a professor of education and psychology at Duke University (Harris Cooper).

His reasons:

1) Homework can deny students access to leisure activities
2) Parents get too involved

He says that to correct the problem of too much homework, students in grades 3 to 6 should do no more than 30 to 60 minutes of homework each night.

No wonder my kid is getting so far ahead of the others. She has plenty of time for leisure activities btw. Although I have to admit she watches substantially less TV than her peers.
