Here's some more fuel for the bears . . .

I just came back from CompUsa. I was asking the clerk that handles all the stuff behind the "too expensive for the shelf" counter.

Asked him why they're charging so much for the Iomega Zip drives (parallel plenty, 1 Scsi, 0 Atapis). They're charging $149 less $20 rebate.

He said that they were selling them for $99 but Iomega raised the price on them and they're not making that much at all on them now.

How bout that Rocky? Syquest comes out with Sparq and Iomega RAISES their prices?

Looks like Iomega is running soooooooo scared.

Actually, the guy said that they got 10 Sparqs in earlier in the week and sold out of 7 of them already. That's 7 in 3-4 days. Guess that really hurts Iomega considering they've probably sold 50-100 Zips during that same time period.

And, they were almost completely out of stock on Zip discs. Guess the tie ratio isn't that high for Iomega. <ggg>

BTW, there was an end cap of Imation drives. They're selling them for something like $69. I'll check tomorrow to see if they sold one.
