KS,

I believe when you see a big spread usually it means the MM's don't know exactly which way its heading so they give themselves a lot of room to move. In this case theyb could belive there will be some buy orders in the morning before the bell and they want to take advantage of the situation. If this is the case, the bid will soon move up to the ask.
