Crossroads First to Demonstrate Server-Free Backup Using InfiniBand-TM- Technology
SAN JOSE, Calif.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Aug. 22, 2000--Crossroads Systems, Inc. (Nasdaq:CRDS - news), the leading developer and manufacturer of storage routers for Storage Area Networks (SANs), today announced it is first to demonstrate Server-Free Backup using early InfiniBand technology. Demonstrations are at the Intel Developer Forum. The exhibition utilizes Crossroads' intelligent storage routing along with Computer Associates International, Inc. (CA) ARCserve 2000(TM) and technology from Intel Corporation.

``This demonstration showcases Crossroads' leadership in connecting businesses to information, regardless of the underlying technology,'' said Rich Lautzenheiser, director of product management at Crossroads. ``As a strategic partner, Crossroads supports CA's SAN Integrated Technology Initiative (SANITI) to enable centralized storage management and deliver solutions that build on standards as they emerge.''

Crossroads and Computer Associates International aim to continually provide real world storage applications that enable the latest functionality for today's demanding IT environments. Through the demonstration at the Intel Developer Forum, the two companies will provide a glimpse into a future computing model where different technologies can coexist within the InfiniBand framework.

``We have been working with Crossroads as part of CA's SANITI storage initiative to develop innovative solutions that are compatible with InfiniBand as we continue to drive superior business value for our clients,'' said Michael LaTorraca, vice president, CA development partner program.

InfiniBand is the next-generation, standards-based switched interconnect designed to boost data transfers. It enables higher performance, connectivity improvement, and more reliable, available and scalable communication between servers, storage and networks. The first version of specifications will be released later this fall. Crossroads is a member of the InfiniBand(SM) Trade Association.
