Many tons of gold is taken off the market by the purchase of rare and certified numismatic items. That gold cannot be counted as present supply. As a matter of fact, the World Gold Council estimates that world supply will only increase by 1% in 2007. Total mining output is less each year as some mines are as much as 2 to 3 miles deep.
