i've done well with LGND & ISIP over the past several years; relatively even with a bunch of others (VICL,RZYM, INSV,SUGN) and got killed on GNTAC.

My strategy got all screwed up when I had to make a bunch of margin calls this spring because the tech stocks took a dive. But, basically, I was investing in a basket of stocks with promising intracellular research. I was looking long term but willing to trade 1/2 the positions if there was a major runup on mass media hype or something like that. That helped me with ISIP & LGND because I did sell 1/2 positions near the highs and repurchased near the lows.

I definitely would not try these companies with options because, by definition, they are long term investments. Your options could easily expire worthless even on LGND unless you get lucky. Maybe, take 1/2 positions in several stocks and reinvest the profits on margin if they go up.
