I have been investing actively in the market since 1967 and I agree with your earlier comment about broad economic cycles. Leaders can exert some influence to slow or speed up things but you are right, in general its outside theirs or anyone elses control. However, to me a HEALTHY economic environment CAN be helped by Sound tax and monetary policy. Only makes sense to me to ease interest rates and taxes during down cycles to encourage the rebuilding of inventories and capital investment. Seems to me that is exactly what Bush is attempting to do as well as the Fed. jdn
