The drop followed a report by Nikos Theodosopoulos, telecom equipment analyst with Warburg Dillon Read, which warned that uncertainty about South American and Asian markets are weighing on the sector's outlook.

So, what...these countries are never going to buy any telecom equipment? What a shortsighted forecast. If someone were going to use this moron's sector downgrade as a sell signal, they should've already been selling on the mass media coverage of Asia and South America's problems long before now. There has to be something else to this.

I still maintain a "strong buy" rating on Lucent, with a 3-month price target of $126. Let's see if that causes a rally tomorrow.... <g>
