For some this is true. But to charge obama with this or most other dems is silly. But I do understand if you charge this. What it represents is the lefts inablity to forgive bush for deceit in getting in and incompetenece in fighting it. Hillary and Kerry were pissed for instance for being fooled.

I was not too crazy about the ambiguous "declaration of war" resolution. My preference would have been an unambiguous declaration of war.

The claim of being "fooled" is on one hand a function of the ambiguous declaration of war resolution but also a changing political climate. When it became clear that to the Dem candidates that the primary process would be dominated by the primary process, the candidates tried to find a way out with the silly "being fooled" argument.

BTW, how are the constituents of these "fooled" senators supposed to feel about the abilities of these senators?

Rumsfeld did not adjust to the situation on the ground, and persisted pushing his "lean" vision, despite the fact that it was not succeeding. In retrospect, he should have been fired earlier.

If we would have lost, which just a year ago seemed likely, getting out wasnt bad policy.

On this, I completely disagree. Losing against militarily guerillas (however ruthless they were) is a CHOICE for a country like the US, that is 1,000x as strong militarily.

Obama and the Dems consciously made the choice to lose.

But steadfastness or stubborness may have worked here and dems today will take advantage of that if they are elected. They will not try to lose but they will try to take the credit.

Of course they will try to take credit even though it is taking credit for the success of the policy they opposed. It is McCain's responsibility to set the record straight (despite the media's attempt to muddle the stark difference).
