Thanks everyone for the response. I've downloaded ZoneAlarm and will try it out. I uninstalled Norton Internet Security, and reinstalled virus 2004, but even this according to what I read may not solve the problem. I may have to eventually go into the registry and get rid of any remnants there. I hate fooling around in there though.
