My personal position is I am willing to contribute more. But first I would like my congresspersons lead from the front and begin paying a fair share of their health costs. uw Former Secretary of Defense Donald Rumsfeld announced on September 10, 2001 ( on the eve of the attacks ) that 2.3 trillion was missing from the Pentagon and could not be accounted for. ( Source: whereisthemoney.org ) In addition, the Department of Defense has not been independently audited since 1995 when it was required to do so. ( Source: Jim Marrs, The Terror Conspiracy, page 375 ) Mr. Marrs is a well known author and journalist whose books have been on the NY Times Bestseller list twice. Furthermore, it was also stated on the Internet, from a retired officer from MOAA that every agency that audits DOD's books finds that they are " unauditable. " Therefore, it is not necessary for any costs to be on the backs of that noble community called " military retirees." The money is there.
