I have heard a couple of quips from Joe Nacchio today:

1) Regarding the possible takeover of GBLX by QWST. "why would I want to have 200 employees and some fiber across the Atlantic? It just isn't of value to us"

2) Regarding the USWest/Frontier. "Frontier supplies QWST with a marvelous network that we built for them and they are a major dsl player. USWest supplies a large customer base with which to fill our pipes." Joe also stated that they have spoken with USWest for years as a possible aquisition target and hinted that the GBLX offer surprised them. It is not only that QWST would like to own USWest but also that QWST does not want to have GBLX own USWest.

My gut feeling is that it would take a small miracle to breakup the GBLX deal at this juncture. I do not, however, understand why USWest would consider GBLX to be capable of managing such a large company (they currently have under 200 employees!!!) Perhaps I am missing something here!
