I fired this off to PK

Speaking of January 31, the FOMC was supposed to meet on January 31 and February 1. It was announced on Friday that the FOMC will meet only on January 31. So, what previously took the Fed a day and a-half to make monetary policy will now be accomplished in a single day. Perhaps Greenspan is correct that there really has been an increase in structural productivity!

Paul, I believe this has something to do with Greenspan’s forced termination.
If it occurs in the middle of a 2 day session we would have 2 different Chairman for a single FOMC meeting.

Greenspan will be gone and thus the meeting will be 1 day.
