An incremental approach on energy efficiency like you suggest is right on, IMO. Also, I think it will happen on a large scale.

There are many technologies that are ready to make us more efficient now -- folks just need to be made aware.


Lighting is another area ... I like my compact flourescents. I don't have them throughout the house yet -- but at some pt will have a large percentage of them.

If they can make those LEDs reliable and a lot cheaper that will be a huge win. But they may never be cheap enough.
