<Bit of a chicken and egg question here. I agree that it is important to make contraceptives more easily available, and for family planning information to be more widely accessible. But the churches are by no means the only problem here. Many of these countries are one step out of agrarian cultures where the large family has traditionally been an essential source of labor in the fields, and the value system that places a premium on fertility - which often antedates Christian influence - remains in force. The best way to combat this is through education, industrialization, and economic development, all of which will be slowed down if we don't allow our companies to move jobs into these countries.

of course the best way to combat ignorance is with education, industrialization etc etc. but the best industrialization program will not be enough unless you stop the problem of overpopulation.

yes, the church is not the only problem, the governments are obnoxiously corrupt. and it is a vicious circle because private industry HAS to participate in it otherwise whoever does not play the game is left out of the loop, and that is out of business.

even then... unless you control the rate of growth of population, your industrialization program is doomed. church, corruption or NOT.

All of Latin America has been under the boot of the Vatican, receiving programming instructions to: go and procreate. there is a popular "saying" in Latin America that says... "every child comes with a sandwich under his arm". this is the same rubbish as the "god will provide" lie.

now.. people here think i am "too harsh" for saying so.

well... excuse me....

take me out of the equation, i am just another SI NUT posting rantings here. take me out and forget what i said.

you still are not going to change the plain simple fact that the church mechanism could change things by being more practical about the problem of overpopulation, by promoting sex education, providing condoms and all the rest.

after that... if they still want to think that god will provide, and it is going to make them feel warm & cozy... well, they are free to dream whatever peyote-laden dream they want. what the hell do i care anyway. as far as i am concern they can drown in another billion babies born anew... every sperm is precious right ? god will provide.. right ? fine, let them drown. isn't it what people want to hear ? god is generous and will make you feel good. right ? fine.

what the hell... better let them think that way before i hurt their feelings, by saying that it is not very smart to continue with the dream... or is it now ?

next time someone comes to ask me for donations and/or try to increase taxes, i will simply say... hey ! god will provide, go ask him, his tab is well overdue

no wonder the NASCUAC reached 5000 investors were being "guided" by divine angels and all the rest. same rubbish, different page.

i'll try to stay here in galleria and post less... i really do not want to hurt feelings by pointing out the obvious.

ah yes, and the NASCUAC will go all the way to 10,000, because god will provide.... NOT.
