Did you want the US government to be the largest mortgage holder, mortgage lender in the world? That's what your ideology got you. And me you asshole.

I've seen a number of these bailouts over the years.

Your characterization of this isn't what is happening, AT ALL.

While it will undoubtedly cost the taxpayers some money, the amount of money it will cost is literally immaterial in proportion to mortgages these organizations hold.

The United States will become a shareholder and a creditor of FNMA and FMAC.

You're way too excitable. The average consumer will not even know it occurs and the plan calls for these organizations to substantially divest over the coming few years which is a totally sensible approach to preventing a recurrence.

The United States is NOT going to become a mortgage holder in any way, shape or form from this transaction. And even if it did this would be a temporary, harmless condition.
