Have you ever noticed that no matter how big a screen you purchase, somehow the default parameters always squeeze enough proprietary junk in up at the top that you almost never get a full page displayed at a readable resolution?

Oh, I don't know... The Menu line on this 23 incher is the same vertical height as when it's on my PowerBook screen (when the big screen is disconnected). And my dock is on the right and very small as it has 63 items in it and the more icons, the smaller they get - and so the width reduces to about a third of the size of a new machine with just a few monster icons.

The smaller pixels do make it harder to read if you keep things at 100% size. It turns out the size needs to be about 136% for the screen image of an 8.5" x 11" image to match that size sheet of paper. The screen resolution is a little over 98 pixels/inch, whereas the Mac display standard has been 72 pixels/inch since the beginning of Mac time.
