The Lifestream Cholesterol Monitor is a hand-held device that can test total cholesterol, inexpensively and with laboratory accuracy, in just three minutes using merely one drop of blood. In a seamless integration of technology, the data is downloaded from the testing device to a Smart Card and transferred over the Internet to a closed encrypted web site via proprietary software, Privalink(tm). Within minutes, physicians and pharmacists are provided with patients' cholesterol data and risk profiles for heart disease, and they can merge the Smart Card data with the latest scientific literature to create a ``personal Health Evaluation Program' for each patient. Cholesterol testing and evaluations typically require fasting, drawing blood and waiting days for results.
