Jimmy, you are right, "storage" is an ambiguous term. When I said I believed the market for additional storage would remain strong, I meant the market for removable media storage. I believe that removable media present a cost-effective, convenient way for people who produce or download a lot of data to keep all their "stuff."

While hard drive prices continue to plummet, it is not surprising that Quantum is having a rough go of it.

Seagate, on the other hand, has reacted to the declining margins on hard drives by producing the high-end products you mentioned, such as the Barracuda II drives, and by diversifying their product mix, through acquisitions. So I think we may see Seagate doing better than Quantum in the next year or so.

Iomega has done a great job of responding to changing market conditions as well.
