Yahoo!, AT&T set Internet marketing pact
BASKING RIDGE, N.J., May 18 (Reuters) - Yahoo! Inc. (YHOO - news) and communications giant AT&T Corp. (T - news) on Monday unveiled a deal that will allow web surfers to access and buy AT&T services at Yahoo!'s popular network of Internet sites.
The deal, which makes the AT&T a ''premier provider'' of services on Yahoo!, also includes a plan to introduce a voice-enabled chat service that parallels traditional telephone services.

Financial terms of the agreement were not disclosed.

AT&T in the past month has signed numerous deals with Internet search companies, including Excite Inc. (XCIT - news), Lycos Inc. (LCOS - news), and Infoseek Corp. (SEEK - news) The Yahoo! deal, unlike the others, does not include a link to AT&T's online service, AT&T WorldNet.

From June, Yahoo! users will be able to purchase AT&T long distance, calling card, wireless and other services, and can be billed online. Both companies will ''aggressively'' market the services, they said.

In addition, Yahoo!'s registered members will be able to sign up for AT&T's One Rate Online service, featuring a $0.09 a minute long-distance rate on certain phone calls.

The voice-enabled chat trial that the companies plan to initiate will enable a chat room participant to turn a traditional keyboard-based session into a voice conversation. Participants can establish a voice link without revealing their phone number to others, the companies said.
