sig, thank you for your reply. my "acquisitions" comment was in reference only to the internet and Dell's growth there as a possible computer "superstore". since the internet is so very undefined at this point it is difficult to ascertain what may happen. nonetheless, this was my own assumption and was not given to me by any one in particular and should be treated as a personal view. the other numbers, though, were specific projections given to me. where is the internet going? just purchased airline tickets on the net last night! no wonder everyone is getting into the net! and what better way than to get a Dell system? the best system available for the net yielding top, top speed. why should someone spend $400 less and use up an additional hour of their time with a sub $1K unit trying to surf? one of my systems two years ago was a gateway, which i regret (maybe they've upgraded since then). but the Dell system well outperforms gateway. any new purchase, office and otherwise will be Dell and continue to be Dell. i'm sold.
