Please tell me you are joking? Please tell me you recognised my satire? PLEASE tell me that you don't think that I agree with the idea that the Queen is truly a representative of God? As an atheist, I would hardly be likely to support "representatives of God" as factual, now would I?!!

Would you think that I believed that the Japanese Emperor was a Living God just because I explained the concept of what they believed at the time?

Now having got that nonsense out of the way--perhaps read my post again with eyes wide shut:

"It is like this, AJ! You know when you decorate your living room and you create a conversation area? You know how you give the room a focal point--some outstanding feature that anchors the room?

Now consider a little island that stands tall in the world. Pomp and silliness and waste abounding. But that island is anchored by a representative of God--the Defender of the Faith--Roman Catholics need not apply!

THe Monarchy brings a living room together and creates an intimate conversation area.
