KMAN,
Yeh, still here quietly lurking, waiting for the Big Bang - not the one that created the universe (already happened) and not the one that is supposedly happening in Japan (not gonna happen), but the one that sends SFNB over 20.
The notion of a purchase of SFNB by Diebold sounds like good sense. IMHO, there are a lot of parallels between DBD's place in the ATM market and SFNB's potential role in the internet market. From the DBD point of view, the internet could be just one more channel into the Bank's product offerings. Built, packaged, sold just like ATM access is.
If I recall correctly, a number of banks took their best shot at building ATM networks, but found it too difficult to do well. It was then called outside their core competencies and they partnered with ATM providers. I can see a similar story in internet -- Some banks will drop some big money on developing internet channel, but other companies will do it better, cheaper and faster, so to play the internet channel game, banks will look to third parties (and hopefully to SFNB and possibly DBD).
Any thoughts?
