Qdog, are you familiar with Gibson Consulting Services for geological/geophysical analysis? Is this a respected outfit?

There's been some discussion about newer technologies being able to extend the recoverable reserves of older fields. Wasn't there a Vertical Well Perforating Process that had promise in getting stingy oil bearing zones to produce?

I also believe that this was a recyclable system so everything downhole was retrieved.

The name Oryx Energy comes to mind concerning this process. Do you know if this is in fact becoming a mainstream process to help extend zones with low permeability and porosity? And would this process ever be used during the initial exploratory phase?

Just speculating that some of these "dry" wells the Soviets ended up with might be candidates for further investigation by some of these new technologies. Of course I understand that the best result is conventional drilling followed by "tons" of the black stuff.
