I don't know where this fits in the discussion, but B J Johnson, Vice President at Compaq, keynote address to the Gigabit ethernet conference in San Jose latter part of last year stated: "ATM is the only means of communication that can provide enough bandwidth to feed gigabit ethernet". And that was the major theme for his presentation. What it means to the discussion I don't know. Dennis
