TEMP, & TMP ...

There is no reason I said C:\TEMP other than it was easier to type. It doesn't matter where the temporary files are stored, but it does matter very much that the programs which use them know exactly where they are. If his system had a C:\WINDOWS\TEMP already, as mine does too, there is no reason not to use it.

I believe that Windows 3.x had a C:\TEMP or C:\TMP as the default location. My old system, DOS 5.x had some programs looking for TEMP and others looking for TMP, so I needed to assign values to both. I almost hate to mention it here, but I stored my temporary files on a RAMDRIVE on that system -- instant access, and automatic housekeeping with a flip of the power switch.

Cheers, PW.
