Am I right in thinking that ZA and McAfee are doing essentially the same sort of thing?

Depends on what version or suite of McAfee and ZA you are running. Does it have a firewall? Unless you purchased the version of ZA that comes with virus protection (very new) they are not covering the same areas....they may overlap in some areas but I am not familiar with McAfee
