If people don't have anything besides emotions and a spurious self-image behind their POV's, discussing their POV with folks not sharing it can be painful for them. Today, I've found that most of the Left won't discuss politics, because they are mostly emotion driven, don't have a variety of sources to point to, and know they will lose their POV to perhaps a stronger and more balanced argument.
