I just checked the DOD dictionary of acronyms. The only CIF ends with an A = CIFA or Counterintelligence field activity. CIC means - "combat information center combat information center (DOD) The agency in a ship or aircraft manned and equipped to collect, display, evaluate, and disseminate tactical information." The USMC uses CIC for other purposes but not Commander in Chief. The Marines in my family now use MFIC for Commander in Chief.
