It does no good to talk to their leadership about change. They will "smile and smile and be a villain." Underneath all of their seeming Westernization is a desire to keep their society as it is. They LIKE running an autocracy. They LIKE treating treating their women like slaves. They LIKE their corrupt system. They are not going to change.

The leadership likes it, but I think more people than you would guess do not like it. I think it will change, but in its own time. One way to look at the Islamist wave is as a kind of Muslim Luddite movement, arising not because Islamic faith is so deep and widespread, but the opposite, because it's weakening. David Warren has always made this point. Meantime, the cultures of the Mideast have a love-hate relation with America, and globalization is pushing our success in their face. They are not ready to face their own failures, but are still cocooning themselves in a web of comforting conspiracy lies. Islamism will have to run its course to be shown for the total failure it is.

Meantime, we have to develop a national consensus on how to contain the damage, which is very hard when the entire left side of the political spectrum has deliberately made themselves into perfect idiots about Islam due to political correctness.
