An interesting note: When I was an Insurance Administrator with age rated policies the rates went up as people aged until they hit 65. Then they came down substantially. That was because Medicare paid the first part.

The other interesting point on actuarial tables is that young women were much more expensive to insure than young men. (I have been told that young men cannot have cervical cancer nor can they become pregnant. Apparently these are the major drivers for the difference.)
