There are many kinds of love:
eros - erotic
phileo - friendship
And some others as well. But the Love that God demonstrated
for us was agape - SACRIFICIAL love.
John 3:16 For God so loved the world
that he gave is only begotten Son,
that WHOSOEVER believeth in Him,
should not perish, but have everlasing life.
There are SO MANY analogies, pictures, types, and images of
JESUS the CHRIST in many of the Jewish traditions (meals,
marriage(sp?), names, history, prophesy, etc...) and books
in the Bible (Genesis, Exodus, Leviticus, etc..., Psalm (22),
Ezekial, Isaiah, etc... etc...).
He really does love us. So much that he paid the death
penalty for our sin nature by sacrificing His Son:
Hebrews 10
5 Wherefore when he cometh into
the world, he saith, Sacrifice and
offering thou wouldest not, but a
body hast thou prepared me:
6 In burnt offerings and
[sacrifices] for sin thou hast had
no pleasure.
7 Then said I, Lo, I come (in the
volume of the book it is written of
me,) to do thy will, O God.
10 By the which will we are
sanctified through the offering of
the body of Jesus Christ once [for
all].
11 And every priest standeth daily
ministering and offering oftentimes
the same sacrifices, which can never
take away sins:
12 But this man, after he had
offered one sacrifice for sins for
ever, sat down on the right hand of
God;
And even gave us the Holy Spirit to open our eyes and convict us
of our sin:
Zechariah 12:10
And I will pour upon the house
of David, and upon the inhabitants of
Jerusalem, the spirit of grace and of
supplications: and they shall look
upon me whom they have pierced, and
they shall mourn for him, as one
mourneth for [his] only [son], and
shall be in bitterness for him, as
one that is in bitterness for [his]
firstborn.
So by His grace, mercy, and love...
from God the Father and His Son the redeemer, the kinsman...

And, WHOSOEVER will,
