These guys are scared shitless:

"A Democrat tells ABC News that, in a phone call late this afternoon, Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid, D-Nev., told Sen. John McCain, R-Ariz., that it would NOT be helpful for him to come back to Washington, D.C., to work on the Wall Street bailout bill."

As Dick Morris discussed on OReilly's show, it may well be that McCain will ride into DC, solve the problem by bringing the two sides together (which will likely be the Republicans caving), and then he has the issue to his credit -- while Obama is off politicking.

Reid says, "Oh, we don't need you" -- but the reality is Reid is unable to get the deal done.

A big gamble on McCain's part. But if it works, it could well carry him to the WH.
