No, this time it is different. Aggressive chip shrinks to produce below 0.25mu has resulted in significant OBSOLETE lines producing at 0.3 and 0.35mu. This is the "capacity" that everyone is worried about! If you made a 64meg chip with those design rules, you would lose about $50million a month with prices as they are. If you don't make 64meg at 0.25 or 0.22mu these days with a die size below 100mm sq. you will not live to tell the tale. The only companies that can do this are NEC, Toshiba, Micron and Samsung.
