If you define “getting your act together” as cooperating with the US, that’s true. I’m not sure that everybody in the picture accepts that definition.


Reports out of Kurdistan say they have a functioning government and police, with working services. I don't hear that from other parts of Iraq.

Oh, he's their problem too, and very much in their face in Najaf. Seems to me that both sides can afford to wait here. Al Sadr is making enemies, not followers in Najaf.

Nobody else is ready to take over the country either, including us

The Sunnis have more training, and if military units are being reconstituted, may get more position too. Two sides can play at divide-and-conquer.
