Re: [it still REMAINS A FACT that overcoming or otherwise ignoring a CLEAR CONSTITUTIONAL PROHIBITION would be much, much more difficult than overcoming most any other change.] "True but if you don't get a strong coaltion behind the idea you'll never even get a fuzzy constitutional prohibition let alone a clear one."

You are saying that it would be hard to pass a Balanced Budget amendment to our constitution.

Well... NO KIDDING!

(You'll get no argument from me about that! In fact, you and I have both previously agreed that it would most likely take a significant financial crisis to catalyze such action.... On the other-hand though I have *also* pointed out something that is equally obvious: if 'We the People' ever get the balls to call and convene our own Constitutional conventions --- as is our clear right under the Constitution --- then that will quickly FORCE Congress to vote out a Balanced Budget amendment that will go to the States... because the politicians in D.C. will be afraid of letting the people get a head of steam at a convention, for fear of what may then emerge.)

And, merely pointing out that this process would be "difficult" does not refute any any way my point that it is the SINGLE BEST ("STRONGEST", least likely to be easily overturned) ACTION AGAINST chronic federal deficits that is POSSIBLE in our system.
