America's greatest problem, of course, is that we have fallen for the myth of "participation", and our campaigns are aimed at the lowest common denominator. Does anyone REALLY think that thoughtful conservatives would NEED to know of the Swiftboat exposures to decide that Kerry is a worthless anti-American? Or that the domestic enemy would SUDDENLY value "war heros" from the hated Vietnam Era-even if they were clear of the dubious nature of Kerry's 4 1/2 month medal-hustling tour-if they weren't trying to fool the CLUELESS?

Our democracy is BADLY in need of reform. The three principles by which only MOTIVATED and DILIGENT citizens may be registered to vote should be carved in STONE:

Proof of IDENTITY.

Proof of RESIDENCE.

Proof of LITERACY.

In addition, those who gain the PRIVILEDGE of registration should vote on ELECTION DAY, rather than at the mall a month before. And, of course, once an individual has had the HONOR of serving for a few limited years in Congress, they should be forced HOME, to LIVE with what they have wrought...
